Extra Pages Printed With Word Document

If you get an extra sheet that prints out with every Word Document you print, it can be very wasteful, not to mention annoying.  To save some paper, ink,  money and the environment - here are the easy steps to stop that extra page from printing.

I am referring to MS Word 2007 for all steps here.  If you are getting extra pages from everything you print, you may want to check your printer hardware options, or windows print driver properties.

1. Click the Office button, then click Word Options. Word displays the Word Options dialog box.
2. Click the Display option at the left side of the dialog box.
3. Make sure the Print Document Properties check box is cleared. Click on OK.

There you have it, no more extra sheets of paper to waste.  Hope that's helped you and save you some time.

Print Server Properties

Did you know your Windows XP Printers and Faxes tool contains more options in Server Properties?

I had not realized this until recently, even though I've been using Windows XP for years! To get to the Server Properties options, click on File - Server Properties (see screenshot below).


Now you have the option of removing Drivers and Ports from your "print server", along with additional Advanced options. So now you can remove those pesky drivers that won't go away after uninstalling the applications from Add/Remove programs. In the advanced options, you can get rid of the notifications you usually get when a print job you sent to a network printer has completed, as well as change the location of the Spool folder to improve printing speed.
