If you just want to deactivate your account for now, so others can't find your information you can do the following:
  • Log into your account.
  • Click Account - Account Settings - Deactivate (all the way at the bottom)
  • Once you do this, your profile will no longer appear on Facebook, but information is saved so you can reactivate later.
If you are really tired of Facebook, you can permanently delete your account by doing the following:

  • Log into your account.
  • Go to the Security Hacked account FAQ page (12771).
  • Click on the link at the end and confirm on the next screen.
  • Once done, your profile is saved for 14 days before deletion, just in case you change your mind.
